About the Book:

bravebennycoverlo-dropBenny the bat always did what was right; hiding during the day and hunting at night. His bed was a tree and he slept upside down, in a quaint little forest just outside of town.

Each night at dusk he’d stretch and he’d yawn, then drop out of bed, and be home before dawn. By daybreak the bats would be sleeping away, but bored little Benny just wanted to play.

He wished to discover the world in the light; he was tired of darkness, fed up with the night. Then one dewy morning, he passed by his tree; he was nervous, but eager, about what he would see…

What will Brave Benny discover on his adventure? Find out in this wonderfully illustrated, rhyming children’s book, a perfect bedtime story for ages 4 and up, and independent readers age 7 and up. Includes activities for kids, and some good batty questions and answers, too!

Testimonial from L. Kurtz on Amazon:
“Fantastic little book! The author writes with such feeling and the illustrations are adorable and accurate. I am a bat biologist and have done fact checking for over 20 children’s bat books. This is the first time I became lost in the story of a children’s book, and out of everything I have read, this is the first book that I will be giving to my nieces and nephews as gifts. Brave Benny is a must-have for any children’s library.”

Last Chance to Get Your Animal Rescue Tale into our Upcoming “More Rescue Smiles” Book!

MoreRScover18loOur FIRM deadline for story submissions for More Rescue Smiles is upon us, and it’s June 15th! Get us your rescue tale of ANY animal (except for dogs, we have plenty of those!) ASAP for a chance to get your story in the book.

Folks have loved the first book in our animal rescue series—the award-winning Rescue Smiles—so don’t miss your chance to have YOUR story touch hearts and lives through our second book—More Rescue Smiles, edited once again by Heather Leughmyer and Tamira Thayne.

Got a particularly-winning photo of your baby, too? Maybe you can even claim the cover photo spot!

The heart of the animal rescue world lies in its stories—of freedom, of love, and of sacrifice by those who not only acknowledge but embrace the human-animal bond and its wondrous gifts.

In our first rescue story compilation, Who Chains You Books was pleased to offer a look into the emotional lives of rescuers and the living beings they hold dear. Readers joined us for the heartwarming anecdotes, as Cinnamon stole Spice’s puppies, Alice stole everyone’s shoes, and a host of other animals conspired to steal our hearts.

You got a behind-the-scenes peek into the relationships between rescuers and not only dogs and cats, but horses, goats, pigs, rats, mice, and birds, in this delightful first installment of Rescue Smiles, available in audio, paperback, and kindle.

Now we’re following up that success with More Rescue Smiles, and we want to include your stories! Every animal is invited inside our pages, from dogs to cats to chickens to rats—and of course every wild animal who calls our fields and woods home.

Stories between 1000-3000 words will be accepted, and we are taking submissions through June 15, 2018. So what are you waiting for? Send us along your entry today.

Submit your stories through our form here: http://whochainsyou.com/mystoryform.html

Got more than one story? Up to three submissions will be considered.

Got more questions? Drop us a line at info@whochainsyou.com, and we’ll be happy to help you out.

Happy Writing! We can’t wait to meet your rescue friends.

Our books are already in use in classrooms and libraries by teachers nationwide, like Sonya Wilson, pictured left.

Humane Educator Susan Hergert took books from Who Chains You to her first school visit. She writes in her blog: “When it was all over, I gave the students some books to keep there. They were thrilled with the selections and began to immediately read them! I truly wished I had brought more…a book for each child, perhaps. As I left, I told Nancy that I will bring more in the future.”
